St Judes 0-9 Ballyboden 0-5
Ballyboden Ladies B Football team began their 2017 campaign with a tough encounter with near neighbours St Judes in Tymon Park on Wednesday last 29/03.The early 6.30 pm start required a big effort from both teams to get to Tymon but the match started on time with 30 players on the field. It was an excellent, entertaining game of football with flowing football of the highest quality from both teams spoiled only by some poor shooting. However this was to be expected as it was after all the first game of the season and the point scoring will  improve as the season progresses.Full marks to Referee O Flaherty who let the game flow and was not to trigger happy on the whistle which is something that can often take from a good Ladies foortball game.
This was St Judes first  team with some top class players and they had the better of the first half and at 1/2 time led by 4 points to 2.
The margin would be higher but for some poor shooting by Judes forwards and heroic defending
by the full back line of veterans Solo and Bo and the youthful Karen Cooney who played like a veteran throughout the game. The half back line of Clare, and the 2 Emer,s O Reilly and Duffy were outstanding also and they interrupted numerous Judes attaching moves and got Boden on the attack again. Also not forgetting, debutant goalkeeper Abigael who had an excellent game between the posts.
Emma and Ruth worked hard at midfield .The half forwards of Elizabeth, Sarah and Orla combined really well and set up many attaching moves. In the full forward line Edel,Paula and Rachel also linked up well and picked off some nice scores.
Substitutes Aine Duffy was excellent when drafted in at wing back at 1/2 time while Laura Medbury got the score of the game  from aBoden viewpoint when she won a great ball and scored a great point on the run.
We can look forward with optimism for the year ahead based on the spirit shown and the quality football played plus there are some players yet to come training

Ballyboden improved on this performance against StJudes and beat a stron Blessington team 4-15 to 3-10 in the second round of the league this week..
