The club extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Billy McDonald of Kilmacow who has passed away. Billy was a member of the historic 1973 Junior and 1974 Intermediate hurling championship-winning squads that attained senior status for the club, a position it has never lost. A driver with CIE (Dublin Bus), he was an able forward and an excellent free-taker, scoring 0-9 against Craobh Chiaráin on the way to the unsuccessful 1976 junior championship final, a team which also included the recently deceased Eddie Walsh.
Billy “Mac” as he was popularly known, graduated onto the senior team, remaining a mainstay until the early 1980s. A versatile hurler, Billy once moved from the forwards to the goals in a Corn Fogarty final in 1981 following an injury to net-minder and fellow Kilkenny man John Butler. A great character, Billy resided in Crumlin.
Suaimhneas síoraí ort, Billy.
