Senior football league v Castleknock in Páirc Uí Mhurchú on 28 June 2023
The first score was to the home side when Céin D’Arcy broke forward and kicked over the bar with
just two minutes gone. Castleknock levelled two minutes later. Daire Sweeney from a free and
Ciarán O’Reilly from play put Boden ahead again before the visitors got a point back. James Holland
from play and Daire Sweeney with two frees put Boden four points ahead with 20 minutes gone.
While Castleknock got two points back, Darren O’Reilly and Kieran Kennedy left the half time score
at 0 – 8 to 0 – 4 in favour of the home team.
Directly from the throw-in, Céin D’Arcy again got his name on the scoreboard with a well-taken
point. In quick succession, Daire Sweeney (pointed free) Ryan Baines (goal) and Daire Sweeney (from
play) had Boden 10 points ahead with just four minutes gone. The goal was a well-worked piece of
play with Mikey Dunne giving a great fisted pass over a number of Castleknock backs to put Ryan
through on goal with just the goalkeeper to beat, which he did with aplomb. Castleknock converted
a free, but Warren Egan, Daire Sweeney and Ciarán O’Reilly added to the visitors’ woes with well-
taken points midway through the second half. Castleknock scored the next three points (1 free) but
Luke Byrne, who replaced Daire Sweeney, converted a free and scored from play each side of
Castleknock’s last point.
