This years Club Annual Gala and presentation night will be held in City West Hotel on St. Patrick’s Eve, 16 March 2011. Last years inaugural event also celebrated our Clubs 40th year anniversary. Having taken feedback from members, the overriding concensus was there should be an overall Club Gala Dinner Dance in the Club’s annual calendar of events. Responding to this, the Club Executive asked last years Gala organising committee to review the feasibility of holding an event this year bearing in mind the following:

  • the difficult economic climate experienced by our members
  • focus on the overall Club aspect of the evening whereby, in addition to awards to successful teams, all adult players,mentors and supporters would be encouraged to attend
  • seek to help newer juvenile mentors and parents integrate into the overall Club rather than just their team by encouraging them to attend
  • requirement for a high quality event which could be sustained on an annual basis on a breakeven basis
  • planning on basis of lower annual target audience than at last year’s 40th anniversary Gala

Having conducted an extensive review of possible options including  pricing  and locations, the Gala organising committee recommended that the Gala be held in City West Hotel on St. Patricks Eve, 16 March 2011, with tickets reduced to  €50 compared to last years €60.  The Club Executive adopted the Gala organising committees recommendation to proceed with the event. In recognition of the contribution of adult players across all grades and codes, the Club Executive has agreed a  reduced ticket price for this year of €35 each for all 2010 aduIt players and partners.Club Members and their partners  over 65 can avail of a reduced price of €45. The Club Executive  has also agreed that ticket price will include Bus transport  from the Club on the night. We are fortunate, particularly in these trying times, that we have much to celebrate as a Club.  Our evening will  incorporate presentations to our County senior champions in Hurling,  Ladies Football and Camogie, (and hopefully U21 Hurling champions!) as well as a number of special awards. We will again have a number of special guests on the night.

In line with last year, the event is over 18’s and consequently, it will not be possible to have the formal presentations to our winning Minor teams of 2010 on this evening ( these  will be held at  at a later date), but players from all  2010 Minor panels who have  reached the age by 16 March 2011 are especially welcome.

The organising committee has taken feedback and suggestions from members on last years event and are always open to suggestions on the format of the event for the evening.

The Gala will be officially launched in Clubhouse on Thursday 24 February 2011 at 9pm.
