Ladies Football Go-Ahead Adult Cup Division 1b

Wednesday 28th July 2021, Pairc Uí Mhúrchú.

Ballyboden St. Endas 3.10 Foxrock Cabinteely    1.14

A golden 2 minute spell midway through the second half when Ballyboden Senior A ladies scored 2 excellent goals was the catalyst for this fine victory against County champions Foxrock Cabinteely at PUM last Wednesday night. Up to that point the game was ‘nip and tuck’ with both sides having periods of dominance. With the visitors leading by 2 points (1.09 to 1.07) Boden struck with a wonderful team goal ending with sharpshooter Natalia Hyland firing low to the corner of the net, followed 70 seconds later by an opportunist 3 pointer by player/ manager Valerie Mulcahy who managed to squeeze a shot beyond the Foxcab’s keeper to leave the home side 4 points ahead with 17 minutes to go. Foxrock however were not giving up without a fight and replied with 4 points of their own leaving the teams level going into the last 10 minutes. Both teams exchanged points but it was ‘Boden who finished the stronger and with late points from Katie Murphy and a fisted one from the impressive Bronagh Lynn they finished 2 points to the good at the final whistle.

While both teams were missing regulars the one thing that will please the ‘ Boden management the most was that it was they who finished the stronger and defensively stood strong to an onslaught from Foxrock in the final 10 minutes. Outstanding in defence were Niamh MacMahon, Jenny Walsh, Hannah Leddy and Laura Basquel and making her senior debut minor was Katie Quinlivan who didn’t look at all out of place.

Scorers: Natalia Hyland 1.3, Bronagh Lynn 1.1, Valerie Mulcahy 1.0, Maria McGrath 0.2, Elaine McGrath, Orla Scolard, Katie Murphy and Aoife Gogan 0.1 each.

Our Ladies were due to play Cuala tomorrow evening, Wednesday 4th August in Hyde Road, Dalkey. This game has been conceded by Cuala.
