Result: 4-18 to 0-13
Ballyboden Senior B hurlers had a comprehensive win in their final Leinster League group match on Thursday 28th March in Heywood against Ballypickas of Co. Laois. This win means a 100% record in the group and so the team qualifies for the knockout stages of the competition.
On a perfect surface for hurling, Boden set a blistering pace from the start and goals by Finn McDonagh, Naoise Greene and Ronan Cleary had them well in front at the quarter hour. Key to the chances created for the forwards was the amount of midfield ball won and Eoghan O’Neill and Martin Kenny were particularly dominant under the puckout. Half time – Boden 3-9 to Ballypickas 0-5.
Boden continued to play the match at pace in the second half. While Ballypickas upped their game as well, Boden’s defence was sound. Great performances by Oisin Cannon & Darragh O’Gorman ensured the opposition’s chances were limited. The free-taking expertise of the Ballypickas centre forward, Martin Lalor, kept them in with a shout, but in the end, Ballyboden saw out the game on a scoreline of 4-18 to 0-13.
