Great defending from Murray Breen and Mark McGovern together with two superb second half saves from Mick Phelan kept Boden in the game as the short, badly surfaced pitch created problems all over the field.
Boden led by a single point at half time 1-06 to 2-02 after a goaled penalty from Gary Cullen and points from Brian Cummins (2), Paul Meehan (3) and Stephen Nagle.
Boden continued to struggle to get clean possession in the second half as the tight space and hard tackling paid dividends for the home side, but four second half points were enough to take home a win.
