All Ireland Football Final

As everyone knows the All Ireland Football Final takes place on Sunday next, 22nd September in Croke Park between Dublin and Mayo. The demand for tickets for this game has reached an all- time high and the club draw from our ticket allocation will take place on Thursday, under the guidance of Paddy Walsh (Adult Games Chairman), Ciaran Maguire (Secretary) and Noel Sheridan (General Manager) and the list of the lucky winners will be published on the notice board in the clubhouse at 9pm. Despite our best efforts to obtain more tickets, we are unfortunately not in a position to satisfy all the demands for this game.

In order to counteract the disappointment that some members will feel, we have laid on an exciting program in the clubhouse for this important event. Starting on Saturday night, there will be music and other entertainment in the bar to help everyone to “get in the mood” for the big event the following day.

Then on Sunday the game will not only be shown on the TV in the bar but also on the big screen in the hall. In addition to the game itself and in order to encourage as many children as possible (with their parents) to come along, we have organised that the children can have their faces painted (in their favourite colours!) from 2pm. The hall itself will be decorated and we hope that this will add to the atmosphere on this special occasion.

Later on Sunday night, after the “Sunday Game” we have organised another musical session, so win lose or draw, we hope that all members and guests will enjoy the week-end’s activities in the Club.

Just one word of caution we would like to bring to your attention. The bar staff have been asked to ensure that all juveniles will have vacated the premises by 9pm latest on Sunday night. It will be a busy week-end for our hard-working bar staff and your co-operation on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, we would like to wish Michael Darragh MacAuley, Declan O’Mahony, Darragh Nelson & all the Dublin team players every success on Sunday. However we are conscious of the strong Mayo connections among our members and should Mayo win, it will still be a great evening in the Club.
