The Ballyboden Senior B team played Peregrines in the Junior B Championship in Pairc Ui Mhurchu on Wednesday 19/06/19

Ballyboden started brightly, playing quality attaching football and Shona Conway had the ball in the Peregrines net after 2 minutes followed by points from Louise Kelly (2) and Orla Scolard(3). Laura Basquel and Grace Walsh dominated at midfield and we added further points from Shauna Maher and Cathy O Neill. Meanwhile, Peregrines tagged on 4 first-half points to leave the half time score Ballyboden 1 07 to Peregrines 0 04.

Peregrines competed strongly in the second half and scored some fine points but the solid Boden defensewith goalkeeper Danielle Alymer, Rachel Basquel, Roisin Ryan, Karen Cooney, Claire King, Joanne O Sullivan and Aisling McElvanney superb throughout and Peregrines were unable to score the goals they needed to narrow the Boden lead.

Up front for Boden, the forwards continued to put together some beautiful passing moves. A wonderful goal by Shauna had all the hallmarks of Eugene Duffy, straining drills, we also had further goals from Orla and Elizabeth Manning. Substitute Aisling Keane got on the score sheet with a lovely score from her left foot. Substitutes, Sarah Burns, Claire McCourt and Aoife O Toole also made significant contributions when they came on. All and all, a great team performance.

Special mention to Louise Kelly who came from knee surgery to kick 3 points and also delivered her trademark kick passes and Aisling McElvanney who gave a player of the match performance.

The reward for the win is a home semi-final game against Ballyboughal when the Championship resumes in September.
