On a beautiful sunny evening we travelled to Ringsend last Wednesday to take on Clanna Gael in our first away match of the season. It took both sides some time to settle into the game with Alanna McGarry striking the first score with a point after 5 minutes. Simmone Reilly followed with a point 7 minutes later and followed shortly after with a Hannah Hyland goal, the result of great team play. Simmone added to her first with a free and then McGarry added a hat trick of points. It was only in the 22nd minute that.the Gaels recorded their opening point.
It was one way traffic right up to the half time mark with the score at the break 1.09 to 0.02.
A minute into the second half, Orla Scollard scored Boden’s second goal being first to react after a shot by Simmone was parried by Clanna Gael’s keeper.
Subs Katie Murphy and manager Valerie Mulcahy adding a brace of points as well as further goals from Simmone Reilly and Doireann Mullany. It was one way play until a concerning final 5 minutes when the Gael’s were allowed score 2 good goals due to a lack of concemtration which will have to be tidied up with sterner tests ahead.
Our goalkeeper Sarah O’Brien saved a penalty. Defender and duel player Hannah Leddy was undoubtedly “player of the match” and 9 different players ended up on the score sheet.

In fairness to the hosts they never gave up and in Rebecca McDonnell, Kate McKenna and Rachel Byrne, all ex Dublin players, they have a trio worthy of any club side in the county.

Scorers: Simmone Reilly 1.4, Orla Scollard 1.2, Alanna McGarry 0.4, Hannah Hyland 1.1, Doireann Mullany 1.0, Katie Murphy and Valerie Mulcahy 0.2 each, Claire Kirwan and Jenny Walsh 0.1 each.
