Today we face the news that another stalwart of the Ballyboden St Endas GAA Club has sadly passed away. Donie Kerin, like many before him, started his Boden career as a football coach in the Hermitage many years ago when his son Andrew started in the nursery there. He assisted with Andrew’s teams over the years and his proudest moment was when Andrew was a member of the Club’s All-Ireland winning Football team in 2016 and was subsequently presented with the AIB Club Player of the Year award.
Donie served his Club and adopted County well in other ways over the years. When called upon, he devoted his time and talents to the administrative side of the GAA, first serving as Chairman of the Club’s Football Committee. Subsequently, Donie spent many years travelling to the Dublin County Board headquarters in Parnell Park, first as delegate to the Football Committee and later as a member and subsequently Chairman of the County Competition Control Committee (CCCC). He then served on the County Management Committee for a number of years.
Donie, a proud Offaly man, was also a great supporter of the Club’s Golf Society.
Donie will be sadly missed and fondly remembered around the Club by the many friends that he made over many years.
Our sincere condolences to Donie’s wife Margaret, Julie and Andrew.
