Division 4b Go-Ahead Adult Cup

After the high of the win over Cuala the previous week, Boden B Ladies team were brought down to earth by a very good Olafs team at home in Páirc Uí Mhurchú last Wednesday. Olafs got off to the perfect start with a penalty and successive points from frees. In fairness to Olafs, they played some excellent football, attacking in numbers from deep within their own half and punching holes in the Boden defence. The dominance of Olafs in that first half was reflected in the half time score of 2:06 to 0:03. The Boden scores in this half came from Orlaith (2), and Clodagh McCahey (1) who had a great debut after completing her Leaving Certificate.

To their credit Boden increased the tempo and work rate in the second half and with points from Megan and Orlaith Ballyboden were back in the game. Olafs however were not giving up the fight and continued to add to their points tally. The Boden girls battled strongly particularly after the last water break. Some excellent kick passes from Cathy O Neill opened up the Olafs defence and contributed to some excellent Boden scores including a goal and a point from Áine and further points from Anna Nolan and Orlaith.

Final score was 2 12 to 1 08.

An improved performance will be needed when Foxrock Cabinteely at home in the League Wednesday evening.
