Back in March, when the Ballyboden St Enda’s Golf Society was putting together the outings for 2021, it was decided that a remembrance day for their dear friend and former club Chairman Brendan Moran would be held. Friday the 23rd of July was the date agreed and Newlands Golf Club was chosen as the venue for the society’s golf outing. Brendan had been a member in Newlands until his untimely death last June. A singles competition was held between 11am and 2pm with 52 members of Ballyboden’s Golf Society and 12 members of Brendan’s family taking to the course. The sun beamed down on the beautiful summer’s day and some great golf was played and good scores were had. That evening the golfers returned to Firhouse Road for the presentation of prizes. Some very fond memories of Brendan were told by John Ryan, representing the executive of the club and Ned Slattery on behalf of the golf society.
The winner of the competition was Vivian Ruddy with 44 points and Brendan’s son Andrew presented Vivian with a beautifully designed lamp. Andrew went on to relate some lovely stories of his Dad. Many thanks to Ned and the Golf Society on organising a lovely day and a fitting tribute to Brendan.
