This was very nearly the perfect weekend for our Camogie teams. The Senior A’s advanced to the Championship Final in their quest for 5-in-a-row by getting the better of a fine Lucan side by 7 points on Sunday morning. This was a stern test for our girls, ideal preparation for the upcoming Final and this was immediately followed up by the C’s who comfortably took care of the same opposition.
The U16A’s had got the ball rolling on Saturday with a terrific performance in coming away from Lucan with a well deserved win in their Championship semi-final. The U14’s were under-strength but played well in a narrow defeat in their Shield semi-final away to Cuala. The U13A’s were very unfortunate on Sunday morning when they went down by 1 point again away to Luca in their Championship semi-final, where the hosts benefited from a controversial late penalty decision which proved crucial. The U13B’s were also unlucky in going down to St Vincents in their Championship semi-final. The U11’s continued on their way with another 2 fine victories over Faughs.
Earlier in the week the Senior B’s had a fantastic win over Na Fianna after extra time. This was a fantastic performance after a slow start, with every player giving their all. This gave us a home semi-final last night in Sancta Maria with Portobello. See website for result of same.
If our Senior B’s were successful last night, then we will have our own ‘Boden Camogie Super Sunday’ in O’ Toole Park this Sunday, with the Senior B’s in the Senior 3 Final at 2.15 followed by the Senior A’s in their showpiece Final v St Vincents throwing in at 3.45pm. With O’ Toole Park being nearby, a huge Boden following can make the difference, PLEASE SUPPORT OUR GIRLS!
We wish the many Ladies Football teams in Juvenile Finals this weekend the best of luck, open the trophy cabinet, the silverware is on the way!!
Well done to Rachel Ruddy on her well deserverd All Star nomination

Senior 1 Championship Semi-Final  Ballyboden St Endas Senior A 2-13 Lucan Sarsfields 1-9
We anticipated a huge test on Sunday morning, and we certainly weren’t wrong! Lucan Sarsfields have dominated juvenile Camogie for the last 6 years, and with many of these girls now featuring strongly in their Senior side they travelled without fear. The visitors started brightly, scoring some fine points in the opening 15 minutes. Boden were struggling to find their rhythm, but 2 quick-fire goals from Denise McGrath & Paula McGrath suddenly opened an 8 point gap. Lucan came back strongly, and narrowed the deficit to 4 at the interval.
Boden began the second half well, and stretched the lead to 7 points, Ann Griffin’s accuracy from place balls was crucial. Again Lucan got within 4, but the experienced Boden ladies controlled the last 10 minutes to run out well deserved 7 point winners. After a relatively soft passage to this stage, we certainly will benefit from the strong challenege which Lucan provided. No doubt Vincents will be just as tough this Sunday in O’ Toole Park, throw in 3.45pm. The dream of 5 Championships in a row can be realised, so let everybody get behind this terrific group and give them the support they deserve. Best of luck to players & mentors, we have every faith in ye!
Team: Sile Nic Coitir, Rachel Ruddy, Su Kennedy, Orla Smith, Sarah Nagle, Fiona Corcoran, Natalia Hyland, Jill Horan, Julie McGrath, Martha O’ Donoghue, Maired Luttrell, Ann Griffin, Paula McGrath, Denise McGrath, Emer Lucey.

                 Senior 3 Championship Play-off:  Ballyboden Senior B 3-8  Na Fianna 2-7
This was a thriller right to the final whistle. Clann na Gael was the venue, and conditions were good. Na Fianna were quick out of the blocks and were 5 points ahead very early. Aoife O’ Brien was an early casualty with a nastly hand injury. Then the Boden girls began to settle and got a couple of nice points from Grace Walsh and Dianaimh Green, before being hit with a sucker blow of a goal late in the first half. Half time score was 2-2 to 0-3 in Na Fianna’s favour.
A different Boden team appeared in the second half. All of the backs got on top of their players, with Grace Walsh, Aoife O’ Neill & Aoife O’ Leary storming into the game further up the field. Boden hit the front with time running out, then amazingly Na Fianna put over 3 quick points to go 1 point up going into stoppage time. A last gasp equaliser from Aoife O’ Neill meant the game ended in a draw, a fair result.
Extra time of 10 minutes a half began at 10pm! Some of our young girls were passed their bedtime, but the Boden girls pushed on. Grainne Corcoran and Karen Murphy led splendidly from the half-back line.  Aoife O’ Leary got the vital goal, and a fine point from Aoife Tobin made the game safe. The game finished on a disappointing note with with an injury for Grace Walsh.
We now host Portobello in the semi-final next Tuesday evening at Sancta Maria. Thanks to all for the terrific support on the night, more of the same next week please!. Well done to all of the girls and mentors, and speedy recovery to the wounded…6 days to get ready!

Senior 6 Championship  Ballyboden St Endas Senior C 9-11  Lucan Sarsfields 0-0
As the score reflects this was a very one sided contest which really reflects the manner in which this squad has come together over the year. Having been there to witness the Senior  A win over the same opposition, the girls carried on the momentum and set out to maintain the winning way. All positions performed to the highest level showing a true understanding of how team work can produce the results. All subs when introduced fitted in and they themselves contributed to the score. We now have a home semi final to look forward to against Good Counsel fixed for Sunday26th, but this date may change, keep an eye on the website regarding same.
Team: Aoife O’Toole, Aisling Hayes, Emma Seery, Ceara Daly, Brid Rynne, Cliona McNamara, Anne Hogan, Ciara Dunne, Aoife O’Shea, Aoife Byrnes, Grace Maher, Ciara Scallan, Niamh Hogan, Aisling Goff, Rachel Walsh, Ciara Lambert, Aoife Murphy, Rachel Basquel and Deirbhle De Frein.

 U16 Division 1 Championship semi-final   Lucan Sarsfields 1-9  Ballyboden St Endas U16A 2-8
What a way to begin a weekend!. The U16A girls were underdogs in most people’s minds as they headed into the ‘Lions Den’ of Lucan Sarsfields home grounds on Saturday afternoon. Crucially the girls were well rested after their exploits with the footballers last weekend, and management were quietly confident. Dealt a huge blow with goalkeeper Cora Ryan injured, Ciara O’ Neill volunteered to fill the void and did a fantastic job.
The opening 20 minutes were evenly fought, with Lucan a point ahead. Then the Boden girls hit a red hot spell before half time, led superbly by Emer O’ Leary to take a 7 point lead into the interval, and also were unfortunate to have another goal disallowed just before the break.
The half time talk centred on how we only had some of the job done, and the call was for more of the same please. As expected, this group of girls didn’t fail to deliver. In a low scoring second half Lucan never threatened the lead, and a last minute goal for them put a gloss on the score-line. The Boden ladies were more than deserving winners on the day. We now look forward to the final on 1st November where we will have another tough task in taking on League winners St Brigids.
It would be unfair to single any individual out,  all 19 girls who were a part of this terrific performance should be immensely proud of themselves. A big thank you also to the huge number of supporters who made the trip to Lucan.
The energy levels of the girls in this performance was helped by the great co-operation between Camogie & Ladies Football mentors,  ensuring that the dual players have had plenty of rest recently and are therefore in a position to give their best in both codes as the big games continue to come thick and fast!
