Last weekend saw our under 14 girls participate in the Dublin Ladies Football Feile.  Ballyboden hosted one group of the division 1 feile on Saturday and all four finals on Sunday.  For the first time we had three different teams entering the competion.

Our Division 4 Team with Mentors Mark Woods and Colin Kavanagh competed admirably on Saturday afternoon in Portmarnock playing against host team Mearnogs, Westmanstown Gaels and St. Monica’s.

In Division 2, Mentors Graham Rigney, Kevin Griffin and Mick Fitzpatrick and their panel of 23 girls travelled to St Margarets on Saturday morning and had a full day of football with a total of 6 matches. After having a very good start winning all their match they were unfortunate not to get out of their division at the end of the day.

Our Division 1 team under the management of Tom Finnegan, Sean McGinn and Eugene Duffy  had a good start on Saturday in Pairc Ui Mhurchu and were sucessful in getting through to the Semi Final.  On Sunday morning  they displayed some great football and overcame a very strong side from O’Toole’s to reach the final.   On Sunday all the finals were held in Pairc Ui Mhurchu. The Division 1 team had huge support for their final and  again they delivered a great display of football.  Unfortunately they were just beaten by just 1 point and the Feile Cup has a new home in Kilmacud this year.

Special Thanks

Well done to all the mentors who put so much into their teams preparation for the event. A special mention must go to the fundraising committee who had all the teams kitted out superbly  for the occasion.  A big thank you to all the parents who made sandwiches etc.and helped out with the catering over the weekend.  Thanks to Ned, Noel and all the people who contributed in  making the weekend run smoothly.
