Baile Buadáin Naomh Éanna 0 17  Clanna Gael 0 11

Bhí cuma na laethanta saoire ar chúrsaí ar bhóthar Sheán Uí Mhóra tráthnóna Dé Sathairn nuair a thug Baile Buadáin Naomh Éanna faoi Chlanna Gael sa chraobh idirmhéanach. Bhí an pháirc lom cosúil le concréit agus an sliotar ag preabadh i ngach áit. The general mugginess seemed to affect both teams as this encounter was more like a challenge game than championship.

A key feature of the game was the accuracy of Rhys McDonnell from 10 placed balls (9F and one 65), a superb display in tricky wind conditions. Clann had the wind in the first half and caused a lot of problems for the Boden defence with the overlap. Bhí Eoin Mac Pháidín thar barr sa chúl agus thaispeáin sé a chrógacht arís agus arís eile, go háirithe le ‘double save’ den chéad scoth. With Mac Pháidín in top form, ably supported by Gillo, Conor Lowe and Andy Hand, Clan were unable to capitalise on superior possession. Dhá chúilín a bhí idir na foirne ag leath ama, Boden chun tosaigh, ach i ndáiríre ba cheart go mbeadh Clann chun cinn.

Jim Kennedy, who was industrious all through, was first on the scoreboard after half-time with an excellent long-range point that Ger Hegarty would be proud of. Boden upped their game somewhat and while not threatening the Clann goal, Rhys kept the scoreboard ticking over with assistance from Garret Crowley who scored 0-3 from play, one of these an excellent team move involving Des O’Sullivan, Eoin McKenna and Rhys who found Crowley in space to slot over with ease. Score of the match came from Jason Devery with an excellent point from the side line to put Boden 6 clear at the finish.

Bhí Eoin McKenna ainmnithe mar chaptaen os rud é go raibh Bagsy gortaithe, agus thaipeáin sé an-chinnearacht i rith an chluiche. Tháinig Eamon Gorman, Alan McGrath, Ciarán Cashman agus Dan Nugent isteach sa dara leath to stake a claim for the next game against Judes on 13 August.

In due respect for the muggy conditions, Susan Creed changed the menu to include Iced Coffee to go with the hot dogs and chicken gougons. Míle buíochas Susan.
