The U14 C Team travelled to Round Towers Clondalkin on Saturday last to play in Division 9 of the Féile. We left the Clubhouse with 19 players to play 5 matches plus parents and supporters. Unfortunately James Carrigan was carrying an injured ankle and despite his best efforts was unable to play.

Our first match was against the host club and we came out on top with a scoreline of 4-6 to 2-2 with scores from Jack Leach, Niall Worthington, Seán Coughlan, Dylan Carroll, Paddy Keady, David Barrett and Manus Coughlan.

In our second match we were beaten by Kilmacud 3-4 to 0-2 with our scores coming from Paddy Keady and Dara Ward. At this stage Tommy Duff had sustained an injured wrist and was unable to play any further part in the tournament. This put huge physical demands on the rest of the squad for the remainder of the day!

Following this defeat we re-grouped to put on a superb show to beat St Sylvesters by 1-6 to 1-1. Scores in this game came from Seán Coughlan, Niall Worthington, David Barrett and Darragh O’Neill. This win sent us into the break in good form looking forward to the afternoon games.

We then put up a gallant display against Raheny going down on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-2 with our scores coming from Sean Coughlan and Paddy Keady.

Our final game was a tough encounter with Na Fianna when a crucial controversial penalty decision that went against us turned the game in Na Fianna’s favour. We finished up losing by 3-1 to 0-6 with our scores coming from Malachy Codd and Sean Coughlan.

Throughout the day the commitment and work-rate of all the players contributed to a reasonably successful and very enjoyable day. The players behaved themselves impeccably both on and off the field and were a credit to their parents and to our club.

We would like to thank Round Towers for the hospitality and for hosting this Division. A big thank you also has to go to the Ballyboden Féile committee for all their efforts which ensured we all looked so well and had all the necessary provisions/equipment to get us through the day.
