Go-Ahead Adult League Division Twelve Ballyboden St Endas v St Peregrines, Wednesday 10th May, Cherryfield
Our Adult D ladies had their first win of the League in Cherryfield last Wednesday evening. The game had been in doubt right down to the wire with the opposition only confirming at 6.45pm that they were on the way! The team on the night was made up of a Leaving Cert trio, college students, healthcare workers, teachers and a goalkeeping accountant and collectively they had the skill and commitment to produce a great game of football and suffice to say they did not disappoint.
The panel has been showing great potential and improvement over the last few games with a draw and a loss by a couple of points so the ladies set out with a certain determination this evening.The defensive line up of goalie Aoife O’Toole, Shauna Donnelly, Ciara Duffy, Emer Worthington, Laura McGrath, Sorcha Kennedy and Caomhie McCarthy kept St Peregrines out for most of the game. Midfielders Yvonne Gargan, Aoife Mellett and Nicole Mcginn controlled the game in the middle of the field and broke forward from time to time to get in on the scoring action. The forward line of Ellie McAree, Aoibhe Johnston, Ceara Ní Coitior, Rachel Colye and Dearbhla McCarthy kept the umpires Sarah Reynolds and Katlyn Field very busy indeed as they spent the evening retrieving footballs. Well done on a great win ladies. Keep it up!
