The weekend saw a mixed set of results for our football teams and the weather definitely had an impact in one way or another. On Friday night our Seniors warmed up for the Strictly sequel by beating Ballinteer by 1-21 to 3-07 in the SVP Cup. The Inters and Junior B games didn’t go ahead and unfortunately the Junior A’s couldn’t get the win against Crokes in the Conlon Cup in difficult conditions (see report below).
On to the Minors and the A’s faced a difficult trip Northside to face a Ballymun side tipped for glory this year. While defeated by 2-13 to 1-06 the team will have learned much and will look to bounce back next time out. Our B’s have been most unlucky as for the second match in a row their match against St.Peregrines was abandoned, this time due to the weather, see picture for conclusive evidence! Our C’s were narrowly beaten by Fingal Ravens by 1-6 to 0-07 while the D’s got a walkover. Hopefully the weather will improve significantly before the next League games in two weeks.
Junior A 2-06 Kilmacud Crokes 1-15
In terrible conditions, the Junior A footballers went down to Kilmacud by 1-15 to 2-6. It was an entertaining game with good passages of play from both sides especially in the first half however conditions deteriorated in the second half and with the aid of a strong wind Kilmacud finished the stronger of the 2 teams. Two goals, one from Damien Kenny and the other from Conor Deane as well as the hardworking display of Brian Kirwan in midfield were the highlights for Ballyboden.
Dublin U21
Congrats to Bodens Collie Basquel, Shane Clayton and Tom Hanifin as the Dubs U21 football squad beat Laois by 2-21 to 2-10. See report here.
Strictly Sequel
The football section would like to congratulate the organisers, supporters, sponsors and especially the dancers who all contributed to a wonderful nights entertainment in City West. Thanks to all who helped promote the event to make it another great success for the club.
