Weekend round up

Our Senior footballers travelled the short distance to face neighbours St.Judes in Tymon Park

on Sunday. Despite a lively opening 15 mins where we created three very good goal

chances (but crucially didn’t convert any) Judes put in a strong performance and kept the

scoreboard ticking over running out comfortable winners by 0-17 to 1-05. Hopefully the lads

can bounce back in their next outing at home to Thomas Davis in two weeks time.

The Inters (pictured above) played with a strong wind in the first half against Ballyboughal in

Sancta Maria and took a long time to settle and adjust to the conditions. Ballyboughal were the

better side and led at half time by 1-04 to 0-06. The home team were a different side in the second

half though and showed great spirit against the wind playing clever football, passing it through

the hands, scoring 7 points and dominating the play. A breakaway goal by Ballyboughal

however left them with too much to do and we lost out by the minimum of margins by a score

of 2-08 to 0-13. Great credit goes to young players Brian Kirwan, Kenny Wigglesworth,

Cillian O’Donohue and Liam Flaherty who gave a good account of themselves in their first

league game at this level. The second half performance will be a good platform to build on

in the coming weeks. Their next fixture is away to Na Fianna.

The Junior A’s got off to a good start in the league with a win over Erin’s Isle. Playing

with a strong wind, Boden made good use of the conditions and finished 1-07 to 0-2 at

half time. Expecting a more difficult second half, the Boden lads really dug deep and

didn’t allow Erin’s Isle back into the game.

Well done to the all the squad on a fine display. Final score 1-13 to 1-05.
