All four adult teams were in league action over the weekend and we managed an impressive 3 wins from 4. Winning is a habit they say and our Seniors continued their fine run of results with a victory over Templeogue Synge Street by 1-15 to 1-12 and are sitting pretty on top of Div.1 after 6 games, winning 5 and drawing 1. The Inters followed up their Championship win over St.Margarets with victory over them again in a game that went right to the wire by 1-10 to 0-10. It was heartening to see our young players step up to the mark when needed and this result means the team remain unbeaten this year and are a point off top spot in Div.4. Our Junior A’s put in the performance of the weekend putting Garristown to the sword by an emphatic 4-19 to 1-05 while the Junior B’s fell to Whitehall by 2-13 to 1-05 on Sunday afternoon.

Reports on all games are below from Paddy Walsh (Senior), Shane Brooks (Inter), Noel Madden (Junior A) and Martin O’Donnell (Junior B).

Finally, best wishes and a speedy recovery to Dan Buckingham who ruptured his ACL last week.

Senior vs Templeogue/Synge Street
Saturday, 23rd May 2015              Result: 1-15 to 1-12

Minor A football goalie, Josh Kane, made his senior league debut against Templeogue Synge Street at Páirc Úí Mhurchú on Saturday. It looked like it might be a losing debut as the visitors made the running for long periods. Collie Basquel and Andrew Kerin got early points but the visitors were let in for a well taken goal after about 10 minutes. At half time they led by 1.7 to 0.6.

Points were exchanged after the restart and the lead was brought back to two points only for Templeogue to restore their four point lead. With less than 10 minutes left Boden were awarded a penalty after an opposition defender was penalised for a foot block in the square. Up stepped Andrew Kerin but his shot was well stopped by the Templeogue goalie. However the ball came back to Kerinsey and he made no mistake with the follow up. Boden pushed on from there and showed once again that they play for the full 60 minutes. Scorers were Andrew Kerin 1-5; Daniel Davey, Collie and Ryan Basquel 3 points each; Declan O’Mahony one point.

Boden now sit on top of the league after Kilmacud Crokes drew with St Vincents.

Intermediate vs St. Margarets
Saturday, 23rd May 2015              Result: 1-10 to 0-10

Our Inters played St Margrets in the League 3 days after knocking them out of championship after extra time. The visitors came motivated for revenge and met a vastly different and less experienced Boden team. But hard work and some brilliant performances from young players Stephen Ward and Conor Dean coupled with some great scores from Stephen McDonald and Fergal Purcell lit up a hard fought game and wrapped up the victory for the home side. A big welcome back to the big ball game to Naoise McGuire who put in a masterful display, like he was never away!
This win caps off a great week for this team, all the squad was needed over both games and the wins set them up nicely for League and Championship games to come.

Junior A vs Garristown
Sunday, 24th May 2015                                    Result: 4-19 to 1-05

Ballyboden Junior A footballers clocked up their best score of the year so far with a 4-19 to 1-5 win away to Garristown on Sunday May 24th.
Early points from David Curley and Brian O Shea settled the away team and with the Maguire brothers Naoise and Fionn providing a solid attacking platform from the half back line, the Boden lads asserted their dominance early on. A 45 from Brian O Shea was followed by Damien Kenny and Cian Bates both getting on the score sheet . Five minutes from half time a long range lob from Cian bates beat the Garristown goalkeeper and now the home team were in deep trouble. David Gilheaney finished the scoring in the first half to leave the Boden lads nine points ahead at half time. A solid start to the second half was ensured with both David Gilheaney and David Curley netting a goal and a point each. With the defence holding strong , Garristown simply couldn’t get going. Kevin Cronin then scored an excellent goal and point. Boden kept up the intensity to the end of the match and further scores from Brian O Shea and a brace of points from both Damien Kenny and Luke O Donoghue meant Boden ran out easy winners.
Many thanks to minors Oisin Carolan, Tommy Burke , Kevin Cronin and Luke O Donoghue for their excellent contribution to the team performance.

Junior B vs Whitehall Colmcille
Sunday, 24th May 2015                                    Result: 1-05 to 2-13

The Ballyboden J9 team can take great heart from this game. Lady luck was not with us today, the rub of the green was definitely with the opposition. A dodgy penalty call set Colmcilles on their way. Some neat footwork from Colum Reade set up Paddy O Connell, whose rasper of a shot cannoned off the crossbar, the loose ball was recycled well by Boden and Shane Gallys shot came back off the upright…yes it was one of those games! Gally did get in on the scores along with Niall O Connor and the ever youthful Colum Reade taking his tally in this game to 1-3. This team always give their all, today was just one of those days where they fell below their own high standards. We all get them!  Scratch it, move on and focus on our next game!

We wish Niall Quinn safe travels on his trip to New Zealand.
