Ballyboden St Endas v Foxrock Cabinteely on the Prunty Pitch

A sun soaked Prunty pitch in Sancta Maria was the venue for the Senior B Ladies as they began their League campaign. An earlier meeting in the cup had gone the way of the visitors so there was a very determined air from the Ballyboden panel as they arrived for the pre-match warm up. Formalities complete, our B Ladies hit the ground running with two quick points in the 1st minute from the boot of Chloe Murphy. Further scores were to follow from our sharp shooter Chloe with another point followed by a goal from a free kick. The water break forced a change with the injured Cathy being replaced by Erin. The message at the break was clear, the aim being to get the ball to the forwards, namely Elizabeth, Kristine, Sinead, Clodagh and Chloe and let them continue to do what they had been doing in the first 15 minutes, running intelligently and creating space. Tigerous defending from the back six of Rachel, Una, Cliondha, Grace, Aisling and Kelly who were first to every ball, working hard as a unit to nullify the Foxrock attack. Another point from the hard working Kristine and then a moment of agility from Chloe who pirouetted and struck the ball into the back of the net, quite a brilliant goal!  Further points from Clodagh just on half time mark left the score 2-05 to 1-02. It must be said that the two powerhouses in midfield Eimear and Laura were the catalyst for our half time lead.

Half time pow wow and the message was more of the same, to keep working for each other, shoulder to the wheel and build on the first half. Unfortunately for us Chloe took that literally and got injured in a tussle for the ball resulting in a dislocated shoulder. On resumption of play, sub Katie with her first touch of the ball popped over a point. Karen continued her recent scoring run with a fine point before Erin settled any nerves against waves of Foxrock attacks by adding two further points. This was a wonderful performance with every player contributing to the victory. We hope for more of the same next day out in Clontarf.

We all wish Chloe a speedy recovery from injury.
