Well done to Cliodhna O’Sullivan, Hannah Murphy, Ciara Duffy & Eva Coughlan who took part in the relaunched Go Ahead Ireland Club Stars’ event last Sunday in DCU St Clares. Pictured also are mentors Jim Dwyer & Deborah Heavey.

The girls played with 100+ players from 70 clubs across Dublin. The format of the day was similar to the former ‘Junior Dub Stars’ event which ran very successfully from 2015 up until 2019. The new structure is exclusive to club players, showcasing the superb talent of the grass roots game from Senior to Junior, across all grades of club football.

The two football matches involved representatives from all Dublin clubs who competed in our 2022 adult championship competitions. The Premier fixture contested by two teams, comprised of players nominated by their club from Senior, Intermediate, Junior A and Junior B levels while the Junior match involved two teams comprising of representatives from clubs fielding Junior C level downwards. The Junior club stars contest got underway at 12.30pm followed by the Premier game at 2.15pm. Each player received a specially commissioned Dublin Club Stars Kit comprising of Jersey, shorts and socks, kindly sponsored by Go Ahead Ireland. All participating players also received a commemorative medal to mark the occasion.

Admission to the event was free and the Dublin LGFA collected donations for JIGSAW the youth mental health and wellbeing charity in lieu of an entry fee. Well done to our Ballyboden contingent.
