Match Report Minor C Hurling Championship BBSE V Naomh Barrog 15th September 2013.

Our Minor hurlers opened their Championship campaign on a wild and wintry Sunday morning at Páirc Uí Mhurchú with a win over Naomh Barrog. Boden, playing with a strong wind, set the tempo of the game with a second minute goal from Owen Wigglesworth. Naomh Barrog’s full back suffered a hand injury in the opening minutes and they had to reorganise their defence. Boden controlled the game with well worked scores from the half and full forward lines of Sean Brennan, Michael Boland, Evan MacDonnell, Oisín O Dúill and Owen Wigglesworth. Two long rang frees by Ciarán O’Brien from his own 45m line resulted in two goals. Darragh Gogan, Garret Crowley and Darragh Maguire worked tirelessly around midfield keeping the pressure on the Barrog defence. Mid-way in the first half Sean Brennan netted a goal from a penalty. Boden led at the break 9g 12p to 1g 1p. Barrog started the second half with determination. The Boden defence were solid, stood up to the task and prevented their opponents from getting a hold on the game. The introduction of Cian Murray, Patrick O’Meara, Stephen Edwards, Thomas O’Connor and Matthew Normile ensured Boden remained sharp to the end. Full time score 10.16 to 1.03.
