Leinster Senior League Division 3: BBSE 5 20 Davidstown/Courtnacuddy 1 06
Ballyboden Senior B hurlers had a comprehensive win in their second Leinster League match on Monday 18th March in Sancta Maria against Davidstown/Courtnacuddy.
In a rare glimpse of March sunshine, the hosts got off to sparkling start with four points in as many minutes – a brace apiece from Emmett Carroll & James Roche. Davidstown steadied the ship and registered a couple of fine points of their own but Boden had the momentum and a goal by Carroll left the home team in front at the quarter by 1-7 to 0-3.
Peter McEvoy and Martin Kenny ensured that most Davidstown attacks were repelled as Boden kept the pressure on and further goal by Niall O’Neill sent the teams in at half time on a scoreline of Boden 2-11 to Davidstown 1-4.
As the second half commenced, Davidstown won their fair share of ball in midfield, particularly from puckouts but they could not convert this into scores. This was due, in no small part, to the defending of Darren Lennox and Martin Kenny. At the other end, having made some great catches earlier in the half, Maurice Nagle goaled for Boden. This sealed the win and allowed manager Ciarán Maguire to give a run to the substitutes. Most impressive of these were Finnian McDonagh and Naoise Greene, who both found the net in the closing stages. Final Score at Sancta Maria : Boden 5-20 Davidstown/Courtnacuddy 1-6.
