Result: 1-11 to 2-09

A series of unfortunate events!

This was last chance saloon for a Boden team that has stuttered through the season in both league and championship. At times playing breathtakingly beautiful football and at other times going to sleep and suffering as a result. Unfortunately today was no different. Ten minutes into the second half today Boden were leading 1-8 to 1-2 and were a man to the good also but that was as good as it got. From a seemingly insurmountable position the game was lost at the death giving Fingallians passage to the next stage of the championship.
Everything started so brightly with early points from Ev and Gillo. We were rocked by a fortuitous goal in the 14th minute but responded quickly with points by Keith and Gillo. A goal from Mattie and a further point from Ev didn’t tell the story of the first half. They lost a player to a second yellow card in the 15th minute and their full back to a black card just before the break. We had some bad wides but some gilt-edged goal chances were missed. The 1-5 to 1-0 score line at the break didn’t tell the full story.
The second half started well with points traded by both teams.
However the wheels came off the Boden juggernaut after conceding a second goal. Fingallians leveled in the 25th minute for the second time and then tagged on a couple of points. We drew on back on the 30th minute mark and despite 5 minutes of injury time we still managed to miss three reasonably clear goal chances in the dying moments. Maybe points should have been taken.
