Result: 0-09 to 2-08

Fielding a weakened side due to a number of absentees, Ballybodens Junior A footballers put up a spirited display against Kilmacud in the Junior A football Championship semi final. It was always going to be a big ask against the Division 4 leaders however the game was in the melting pot until a crucial late goal gave Kilmacud the edge. Both teams started tentatively and exchanged a couple of points when Kilmacud scored a controversial goal. A shot from the 20 metre line seemed to have been stopped by Stephen McGrath however the referee awarded the goal indicating the ball has marginally crossed the line. At half time Kilmacud led 1-4 to 0-4.

The second half saw Ballyboden close the gap to a point with five minutes to go however a tentative high ball into the goalmouth was flicked to the Boden net and a further point sealed victory for Kilmacud. All round it was a brave display in wet conditions with Fionn Maguire, Sean Leland, Adam Carney and Dara Shovlin prominent for the home team.

Focus now switches to the Division 5 league qualifiers with Ballyboden needing a home win against Ballinteer on Sunday Sept. 18th at 10.30am.
