The JBs got their season back on track today in a fine display of football against a spirited St Brendans. From the moment the team met there was a steely determination that this was going to be our day. The warm up was intense, the team were fully focused on the job in hand. From the start Boden were on the front foot, James McTiernan collected the ball and gave a pinpoint pass into Laurence Murphy who sent the ball over for a well taken point. Bodens back line were out in front winning ball after ball, soaking up the early pressure from Brendans.Young Murphy had the bit between his teeth and expertly dispatched a fine goal after some great passing up the field. Rory Knight got in on the act with a goal and a point before the half time whistle. With more scores from young Colum Reade and Bradley, Boden were 3-8 to 0-5 up at half time. Fran Cooney was excellent in the half forward line and worked his socks off for his team mates. Some quick handpassing up the field led to Cooneys goal after he rounded the Brendans defence and rifled the ball low into the corner of the net. The subs had a role to play too weighing in on the scorline. Donal McCarthy kicked over two points and Gearoid Healy smashed the ball into the roof of the net. The final whistle brought an end to an excellent performance from the entire panel. With Kevin Cronin standing out in defence, its shaping up to be an interesting season for the JBs. A huge thanks to the entire panel. Report by Martin O’Donnell.
