Ballyboden St Endas Senior C v Portobello

Wednesday 4th August, 7.30pm

Leinster Road

For their third game in Championship, the ladies travelled to Leinster Road for this challenging encounter v Portobello. And what a game it turned out to be! Portobello were a very strong, fit and skilful opposition requiring the Boden ladies to really dig deep. There was very little between the sides throughout the whole game with Boden finishing strongly with a fine 10 minute spell to close out the game. The backs, once again, showed their confidence and composure, never panicking under the constant pressure. Amy Cunningham has proved herself as a key corner back, keeping things steady and consistently playing a vital role. Pushing forward and looking for the breaks, our midfields and half forwards kept patient, waiting for the opportunities to break through a strong Portobello defence. The duo of Grace Campbell and Aisling Gargan in midfield, kept the momentum up, feeding in ball after ball to the forwards.

Portobello certainly put it up to the ladies, finding gaps and managing to work through a number of fine scores, exposing their defence at times. Perseverance and composure was the name of the game, with Ballyboden keeping their cool right till the end. An absolute cracker of a save from goalkeeper Ally Ramsden late in the second half kept Ballyboden on top. A fantastic display of football from both teams on the night but with Ballyboden managing to keep a safe distance ahead.

And interesting week ahead for the Boden ladies with Championship Semi final v Ranelagh Gaels set for Wednesday 11th. Boden Abú

Final Score: Ballyboden 2- 12  Portobello 1- 10
