Under 13 A ‘s U13A girls had a great day out in Avon Ri Adventure Centre on Sat. 28th June. The girls enjoyed all the activities, ziplining, archery, climbing wall and they even managed to do the Macarena standing on top of the canoes! This was a great end of season day for all the girls who topped Division 1 with an unbeaten run in all their games. Well done girls. (photo below)

Under 16 Ladies Football Trip to Arklow

Last Saturday our under 16s set off once again, as they always do this time of year in search of a formidable opponent, an old and reliable foe, the Arklow Geraldines . A very

accommodating bunch, Arklow Geraldines management always investigate the strength of our travelling squad so as to ensure an evenly matched group of girls.

While back home in Dublin the weather turned grey and wet, Arklow basqued in some beautiful sunshine for the 11am throw in. The Boden girls arrived in good spirits with one common goal in mind, to work hard and bring the skills and techniques they have been developing over the month of June onto the playing pitch.

Boden started very strong with Jessica McGrane taking first blood with a net straining goal. The Boden onslaught continued with the shadowing of the crossbar a regular occurrence as well worked points went over. But Arklow are not known for lying down and began to turn the game as the inevitable comeback was turned on. As we have so often seen before with this group of Boden Girls, when the going gets tough, the tough get going!

2nd half saw a reinvigorated Arklow side take control of the opening minutes. Scores exchanged at both ends resulting in a final outcome – Boden 4-10 Arklow 5-4.

Arklows post match refreshments were well earned and appreciated by the Boden travelling squad and supporters. Commentaries and analysis were put forward by both teams management in friendly banter and the return match dates put in place.

Well done to Rachael Ruddy, Natalia Hyland and the Dublin Ladies team on their great win over Westmeath in the Leinster Semi Final on Sunday last. They are now through to the Leinster Final where they take on Laois on Sunday 13th July in Dr. Cullen Park. Carlow.

Under 10’s

Well done to Cathal O’Toole and his fellow mentors for organising a group of over 43 girls who travel to Moorefield Gaa club where they took part in a Leinster Blitz. Cathal’s report below gives a good account of the day.

A group of over 40 girls went to Moorefield GAA club on the Curragh on Saturday 28th June for the first ever Leinster Ladies GAA “get in the game” U10 Football Blitz. Organised by Aisling Hubbard (Games Promotion Officer of Leinster Ladies GAA), 42 teams from eight counties were present (that’s over 500 girls). Over the course of six matches our 43 girls (split into three panels who each played six games) played clubs from Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, Westmeath, Offaly, Meath, Louth and Laois. The challenge set by Aisling was to “get in the game” so participation was the #1 priority. Yet again the Boden girls weren’t found

wanting. The spirit in which the blitz was played was supported by the fun element in which no scores were kept and out of six matches every girl played at least four full matches thanks to the rotation of the panels.

On behalf of the girls and the club our thanks go to Aisling Hubbard and her colleagues for organising a terrific day. We hope this is an annual event in which future U10’s from Boden will participate.

On the coach to and from the Curragh the girls were tested on their knowledge of the GAA in a quiz which also challenged them to think about recent camogie and football events in their lives.
