Under 16’s progress to Finals in Style:

Well done to our three   U16’s Ladies Football teams who  are  all through to championship finals, while our U16 Div. 3 team are through to a Shield final. The Div 1 team  had  a comprehensive victory over Na Fianna with a score of  6 – 14 to 1 – 4.   Under16 Div. 2  Boden 8 – 12  Synge St 0 – 4 . Under 16 Div 5 Boden 3 -10 Round Towers 0 – 5.     Andy McGrane’s report below gives a good account of Division 1  and Division 2  journey so far this year.

A wise person once said ‘Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you’ . In January this year the Under 16 Ladies squad comprising the girls of Div 1 & 2, came together to begin a journey. And even though this newly formed group of players faced the most basic of challenges such as not knowing the names of the girls they were now expected to train and play alongside they, as a group agreed one goal. Their goal, set so early in the season was to win a place in the Dublin Championship finals.

This was an ambitious task but without stopping, hesitating or delaying they set about taking the first steps on their journey as they walked onto the training pitch and introduced themselves to each other. Since that time they have worked hard, developing themselves as a team and as individuals. They have striven for the mark they set before themselves. There were many challenges along the way but each overcome as the girls learned and progressed. This weekend the girls accomplished their goal as they played their way successfully through their semi-finals and into the Div 1 & 2 Championship final. Superb Victories over Na Fianna and Templeogue Synge Street ensured qualification.

The girls celebrated their achievement in the fashion they like best – chips and spice bags delivered to their favourite clubhouse!! (A big thanks to Mick Farrell and the team for being so accommodating). Indeed a big thanks to all the proud supporters – parents, grand-parents, brothers, sisters and friends. And from the post-match conversations it is clear that the girls have set themselves one more goal !!!  To achieve this they will approach it in their usual way, which is to focus on the next step…..training on Tuesday. As soon as we know the details for the final we will issue.

Hard luck to our Under 14 Div. 1 team who were knocked out of their championship reign by Foxrock Cabinteely,  while the Under  14 Div.  5 team  bowed out to Na Fianna on Sunday.  However the Under  13 Div. 1 team were victorious over Na Fianna with a score of 4 – 4  to 3 – 5 and are now through to a Cup Final.
