Semi-finals in the Minor A Championship don’t get any better than a trip away to Lucan Sarsfields GAA, by far the biggest game of the year for the Boden Boys where everything would be left on the pitch and the winner takes all.

The opening stages were more favourable to the Boden lads but we just could not make it count on the scoreboard as Lucan staged a near impenetrable defence, both teams exchanged scores until Mark McGlynn scored the game’s first goal and created some distance between the teams.

Lucan did not collapse under the pressure, however, and got themselves back into the game with only one point between the teams at the break.

Lucan started the second half with a bit more momentum and the Boden back line had it all to do with Fionn Murphy, Damian Gibbons and David Quinlivan defending for their lives and even goalkeeper Cillian Murray making a number of fantastic saves to keep Boden in the game.

The Boden midfield eventually got to grips with their opposite numbers and the momentum began to swing in Boden’s favour with the introduction of fresh legs, Jamie Farrell, William Hook, Ryan Culleton and Alex Young the Boden Boys were able to maintain the pressure on Lucan as both teams showed no signs of giving up.

Both teams exchanged scores and there was always only one point between the teams until Alex Young scored the goal that sent the supporters wild and Boden through to the final.

Final Score Lucan 0-13 Ballyboden 2-11
