Minor A Hurlers get off the mark

This was an away match for Ballyboden on a glorious Sunday morning against Craobh Chiarain. Ballyboden got off to a superb start with a point from Aaron Coffey followed shortly by a well taken goal from Michael Boland. While the first ten minutes belonged to Ballyboden, the remainder of the first half was dominated by Craobh Chiarain leaving the half time score of 0-11 to 1-5 in favour of the northsiders.

The second half was a closely fought affair with both teams exchanging points and never more than three between them. There were some good solid defensive displays by Kevin Cronin, Rob Leddy and Luke Corcoran while at midfield Sean McDonnell was outstanding. Conor O’Donoghue never put a foot wrong between the posts and kept Ballyboden in the game with a brilliant save with only minutes remaining and two points down. Eventually the ball was cleared and delivered to Aidan Mellet who worked tirelessly throughout the game. Aidan took on the defence soloing all of 30 meters and at close range blasted the ball to the net. That was the winning score. Full time, Ballyboden 2-11, Craobh Chiarain 0-16.
