Result: 3-10 to 4-07
This one may be classes as one that got away. The ‘Boden Minor Bs played out their first competitive game on Sunday with a team, half of whom were playing their second year as minors with a group coming out of U16 football.Despite the fact that this was their first real outing together, the common goal to work as hard as possible was shared by all. Subsequently, ‘Boden were the better team throughout the first half. Great work by Kevin Kirwan in midfield and Cian Hassett (listed as wing forward but who seemed to be everywhere) ensured ‘Boden were ahead by 6 at half time.
A poor start to the second half saw Anne’s getting two goals in a few minutes. The first being a speculative effort which landed in the corner of the net. The second was from an Anne’s Penalty. Fortunately, ‘Boden took control again and with a few minutes remaining, had a well earned three point lead. A penalty was awarded in the last minute which Anne’s converted to ensure a share of the spoils. As mentioned, it was one that got away but the work rate, attitude and overall performance was excellent and that augers well for the season ahead.
