With our Intermediate footballers looking to end a 51 year drought this Sunday in O’Toole Park, it was fitting to remind the lads of the last Intermediate Championship win on 25th July 1971.

Ballyboden St Endas lined out against Fingal Ravens in Parnell Park, winning our 1st & only Intermediate Football Title to date! Club stalwart Noel Callan played on that day and scored one of the 3 goals.

Noel was invited to chat to the lads in Sancta Maria last evening at their last training session before the big game on Sunday. Noel reminisced about the game and chatted to the lads about the early days of the club (the Intermediate win was a mere 2 years after our club was founded in 1969)

Noel brought along his winning medal to show the lads and it was passed around the dressing room, a reminder of the commitment and dedication of those lads all those years ago and a taster of the possibilities that lie ahead for this present day team!

Many thanks to Noel for taking the time to meet with the lads.

The very Best of Luck to the Inters in O’Toole Park, 11am tomorrow, Sunday 6th November. It would be great to get a big crowd over to O’Toole Park cheering on and supporting our boys. Boden Abú

It’s worth noting that the club secured Senior Football Championship status by virtue of winning the Intermediate title in 1971. A proud tradition that the club has maintained ever since
