Ray McKenna Memorial Tournament

February 11th promises to be a day to remember in Ballyboden St. Enda’s when the club community remembers Ray McKenna who passed away in July last year. Ray was an “ever present” at hurling games in Ballyboden.  He was a proud Boden man but his love of hurling had no bounds.

Ray played and coached with both Towers and Boden; his older brother Martin is heavily involved in Faughs where his nephew Emmet plays.   Ray’s mother is from Mooncoin, and he spent a good deal of his youth in that area.  Therefore, it was thought fitting to invite these teams to commemorate Ray in a way in which he would surely approve.  Each team was delighted with the invitation to participate.

There will be two semi-finals of 20 minutes per half commencing at 10:30am and 11.45am.  The third / fourth place playoff is at 1.30pm and the final at 2.45pm.   After the “Hurl Away” festival of hurling, there will be a presentation at 4.30pm to the participating teams in the clubhouse which will be attended by members of his family.
