It was a drizzly August morning when the Boden Senior A Camogie team ventured to Mobhi Road to kick off their 2023 Go Ahead Senior Championship to play last years finalists, Na Fianna. Boden started well, with two frees from Sarah Nagle and Doireann Mullany pointing from play. The home side got on the scoreboard around 15 minutes into the game, with Boden dominating most of the possession early on. Grace Walsh, alongside the Boden defence mopped up to keep Na Fianna to two scores in the first half. A point apiece from Julie Vaughan and Áine Rafter meant the half time score had Boden 0-05 to Na Fianna 0-02.

A purple patch was always inevitable for the home side and that came in the third quarter. Despite a penalty miss, Na Fianna hit the back of the Boden net from a volley just outside the box. The visitors replied quickly, with a Rafter point and a Vaughan goal following a surging run through the middle. A great save by Boden keeper Enya Kennedy denied the home side a way back into the game. The sides traded points before Boden picked off another few scores, which were fed in by Hannah Byrne and the middle third, to close out their opening game. Final score had Boden 1-13 to Na Fianna’s 1-06.

Boden are at home to Lucan Sarsfields on September 10th.
