A Cup Semi Final and two League matches within an eight day period was our Senior A ladies lot recently with two wins and a draw being the satisfactory outcome heading into Championship mode in the upcoming weeks.

Having qualified joint top of the Southside Division, the Ladies ended up having an away tie versus Fingallians in Swords last Wednesday fortnight (11/08/2021). After a hugely entertaining match with 11 goals in total, Boden came out comfortable winners on an amazing Final Scoreline: Ballyboden St Endas 7.18 Fingallians 4.11 Goals from Simmone Reilly, Bronagh Lynn and Natalia Hyland amongst others set the team on their way to a Cup final place. The most pleasing part was the Senior debuts of three of our minor players Katie Quinlivan, Sophie Weldon and Kate Donaghy, with the latter scoring 1.01

On Sunday (15/08/2021) Pairc Uí Mhúrchú was the venue for the League game v Kilmacud Crokes, a team the hosts narrowly defeated in the Cup back in June. With Dublin panelists Laura Kane and Eabha Rutledge released to play for Crokes, Ballyboden were up against it for long periods of the game but a wonderfully worked goal by Natalia Hyland finished expertly by Valerie Mulcahy turned the tide and the Firhouse Road crew eventually secured a well deserved draw through a late point from Simmone Reilly. Two points of note from this game were the Senior debut of Alice Rudden, another member of the successful minor team, and the delightful goal by Maria McGrath who had the audacity to chip Rachel Fleming, the Crokes ‘keeper, from 25 metres. Final Score: Ballyboden St Endas 2:11 Kilmacud Crokes 3:08

Finally last Wednesday (18/08/2021) the Seniors travelled to Tallaght to take on Thomas Davis in the final League game of the season, a team who held Boden to a draw earlier in the season in the Cup competition. Returning to form with a comprehensive victory, the full forward line of Valerie Mulcahy, Bronagh Lynn and Simmone Reilly caused the Davis’s defence all sorts of trouble. Final Score: Ballyboden 4.15 Thomas Davis 1.08

All in all a very satisfying week ( well 8 days actually) with a Cup final date against Thomas Davis and four rounds of Championship football to look forward to over the coming weeks.

Onward and upwards. Boden Abú
