Our Senior B ladies travelled over to Somerton Castleknock to take part in Seven-A-Side Football Tournament on Saturday to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge  which is a festival that celebrates the Irish language and culture. We were invited along with hosts Castleknock, Ballyboughal, Fingallians and Na Gaeil Óga. We played Castleknock in first game just coming up short in the end. In the next 3 games we went unbeaten winning all 3 and qualified for the Final. As the ladies awaited the outcome of the last round of matches to determine our opponents.

In the final we played Castleknock and held the lead going into the final moments by a point. The competition rules on a double score from a free would determine the outcome with Castleknock been awarded a free in the dying seconds to win by a point.

The team played some wonderful football and showed great team work for a group of players that had not played together before, this should stand to them when the League starts later this month. Also, it was a chance to brush up on the cúpla focail as all communications were in Irish on the day.

Mile buíochas to Castleknock for organising a great tournament.
