Senior B team progress to final

Ballyboden Senior B hurlers won their Championship semi-final in a sunny Parnell Park in perfect conditions on 21st September 2013 against Naomh Mearnóg.

The opening quarter hour was a tactical battle and Boden edged ahead by 4 points to 2. The northside team suffered a blow with the loss of their centre back to injury and this caused a reshuffle in the team. The half back line of Nagle, Desmond and Cleary then began to dominate the midfield exchanges and Boden pressed on, with fine points from Emmet Carroll and James Roche a feature. Half time scoreline Boden 0-9 Naomh Mearnóg 0-2.

Naomh Mearnóg started brightly in the second half and a goal and point had them within touching distance. Two fine points from Gavin Corrigan steadied the Boden ship, but shortly after that, Mearnóg struck for their second green flag. Again Boden took hold of the midfield battles and with fine ball being sent in to the forwards, they began to assert their control on the game. A goal by substitute Finn McDonagh at the start of the final quarter seemed to push Boden out of sight but the resilient Mearnóg scored a third goal to leave 4 points in it. Further substitutions by Boden meant they did not relax further and in the end they ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-19 to Naomh Mearnóg 3-6.

Well done lads, a great victory against a fine Mearnóg team in energy-sapping conditions for this time of year. We look forward with anticipation to the final on 12th October against Parnells.
