Final Score Boden 3-6 to Na Fianna 0-3

On Sunday 6th March Ballyboden Senior C camogie team got their Junior 2  league campaign underway against Na Fianna. This was Bodens first game at this level having being promoted owing to winning junior 3 championship in 2021.

With the ground very heavy Boden knew it would be a though assignment against Na Fianna. Na Fianna hit the first score of the game. The Boden girls due deep and took their first score when Claire Buggy broke through and registered Boden’s first score of the game.  With Boden playing against a strong breeze in the first half the Boden backs repelled Na Fianna’s attacks with Hannah Tevlin, Roisin Keaney,  the ever green Ceara nic cotter and Ciara Dowling all to the fore.

Boden were beginning to see the lions share of possession and began to get on top in midfield, half forward line and half back line. Scores from Deirbhile De Frain following great work by Aisling McCullagh and Ruby Hynes following a lovely pass from Ailbhe Dunne left Boden level at 3 points a piece at half time.

The first 10 minutes of the second half  Boden began to assert more pressure with Ellen Sweeney, Shauna Walsh, Ciara Woodcock and Ruth Sheridan to the fore.  Bodens defence stood firm mopping up all Na Fianna’s attacks.

However the game turned on its head when Na Fianna broke forward and were awarded a penalty. Sarah Reynolds pulled off a magnificent save and from the resulting play Hannah Tevlin (now playing as a corner forward) scored the first of her three goals. This was quickly followed by a point by Deirbhile De Frain following good work by Amy Brennan. Hannah Tevlin’s never give up attitude saw her score two more goals and put the game to bed. Ciara woodcock steadied things by scoring a 45. The last score was fitting that it went to the ever present Ellen Sweeney who broke up the wing and struck the ball over the bar from 40 metres out to round off a brilliant team performance.
