Our senior A ladies were brought back down to earth on Wednesday when they were beaten comprehensively by an excellent Kilmacud Crokes team on a score line of 1.17 to 0.9.The first half started brightly enough and we had an excellent goal chance after 10 mins.from Aoife Martin which was smothered well by the Crokes ‘keeper Rachel Fleming, and minutes later she was glad to see a rasping shot from Hannah Hyland come back of the angle of crossbar and post.If either of these efforts had ended up in the net it would have given the home side a real boost but it wasn’t to be.Instead Crokes came more into the game and took some nice points from both frees and play with ‘boden keeping in touch with some good scores of our own mainly from the boot of Maria McGrath but you always felt that the early missed chances would come back to haunt us .At halftime Crokes led 10pts.to 6pts.A good start to the second half was essential for ‘Boden and while we traded scores for the first 10mins.We were coming under increasing pressure at the back but sterling works from the likes of ‘keeper Sarah O’Brien,Ciara Ruddy,Avril Flood and Niamh Crowley kept the score line down. With 10 mins.to go and ‘boden behind 14pts.to 7th a goal looked like the only thing that would get us back into the game but unfortunately it was Crokes who rattled the net which put an end to the game as a contest.Credit where credits due the girls never let their heads drop and a fine shot from substitute Aoife Gogan and a free from Maria McGrath both almost produced goals which might have given a fairer reflection on the game as a whole. Our midfielders Dublin star Rachel Ruddy and Deirdre Lawless worked tirelessly throughout the game while forwards Emily Flanagan,Elaine McGrath and particularly Aoife Martin while finding space at a premium caused the Crokes defence some anxious moments. However we can have no complaints about the better team on the day.Well done to both Aoife Durkin and Bronagh Lynn who both made their championship  debuts and acquitted themselves well.Still a long way to go in the season so we must move on and take lessons from our defeats to both  Crokes and Thomas Davis and of course from our fine away win against Fingallians.

What’s that famous quote,”I never lose,I either win or I learn”.Onwards and upwards.
