Finally the Under 16 B ladies football got their season under way against Man O War in North Co. Dublin. The team lined out with 5 Ciara’s, 3 Caoimhe’s and 2 Emma’s. A great excuse to just get on and enjoy the game and ignore the calls from the side-line. The game was played on an energy sapping pitch but all the girls kept going until the end. The game was very much alive at half-time with the score 1:3 to 1:2 in favour of Man O War with their goal coming from a penalty which was so nearly kept out by Shauna who was unfortunate to see her save ricochet back into the net. A burst of scoring by Man O War with the wind at their backs in the second half put the girls 8 points down but a tremendous battle by all the Ballyboden players brought the scores level with only 5 minutes to play. Unfortunately Man O War pulled away with the last 3 points of the game despite some brave defending which the referee punished with a couple of late frees. Final score Man O War 3:13 Ballyboden 5:4
