Boden Girls start Centenary Blitz in style
The Centenary Blitz took place on a beautiful Sunday morning in St. Endas Park.
The organisers were up early to transport goal posts and set up pitches ready for the arrival of the Under 12 girls from Boden, Raheny, Kilmacud, Faughs and Templeogue Synge Street.
The Ladies Football Cup competition was won by Ballyboden. They were fiercely competitive from the start and never looked back after a narrow victory over Raheny in the first match. They saw off the challenges of Kilmacud and Templeogue with hard fought victories and then overcame Kilmacud again in the Final. Raheny overturned their defeat in the group stages to defeat Templeogue in the shield.
All teams then marched proudly behind their banners to the Pearse museum for a presentation of trophies with each girl receiving a commemorative scroll (along with some gratefully received Taytos!)
Great thanks to the organising committee and to teams from Kilmacud, Raheny, Templeogue Synge Street and Faughs for making it a great day for all. Finally, thanks to Liam Cunningham for the wonderful photos of the event and to Senior player Emer Lucey for making the presentations.
