U14 Ladies celebrating after their win over Beann Eadair

Decked out in Green Jersey’s the girls arrived out to Trinity Gaels with one intention, to bring home the Silver. The game took off with Boden in control and a point from Katie got us on the scoreboard. However it soon became apparent that this was going to be a tough encounter. Rebecca, Anna and Katie continued to pop the ball over the bar. As the game approached half time Boden were up by a point. The second half was made even tougher, against the wind and the hill to contend with, but a goal from Anna, followed shortly by another from Clodagh settled the nerves .   However the opposition notched up a gear, scoring  several points and our defence had to work extremely hard to keep the game to a draw at full time. With daylight fading it was a quick turn around into extra time.

At this stage our girls dug deep, picked up the intensity and really showed great character to take control of the game.  Goals soon followed, first from Rebecca and then Sophie.  Throughout the pitch the team continued the work rate and a point each from Clodagh, Lucy and Sarah was enough to close out the game and come away with a victory.

Our captain Lucy gave a lovely speech and accepted the Cup with dignity and pride.  A big thanks to all the supporters who made the journey out to cheer on the girls.   It was all smiles and happy banter as  we  headed back over the M50  to the Club House for Pizzas.  A special thanks to Michela and Hannah from the U13 squad and Megan (Goalie) who has come up   from the B team in the last few weeks. Thanks also to Liam Cunningham and Cliona Mellet for capturing those great actions shots and special moments on Sunday and thoughout the year.  Well done to all involved.
