U14A Ballyboden Girls win Division 1 Regional Feile in Monaghan.

Ballyboden U14A team travelled to Monaghan Centre of Excellence on Saturday to compete in the Regional Feile Competition. Boden were drawn in a group with St. Mary’s of Kildare, the Downs of Westmeath and Carrickmore of Tyrone. First up was St. Mary’s of Kildare. The girls conceded an early goal and a point but after that there was no stopping them and the forwards produced the goals and points needed to get back into the game.
Final score Boden 4-5   St. Mary’s 1-2.
Next up was Carrickmore of Tyrone. Boden again produced some excellent football, from the defence up to the forward line and came out winners with a scoreline of Boden 7-7  Carrickmore 0-0. Last group game was against The Downs of Westmeath.  A win in this match meant a place in the final for Boden so again some great football
played by all and Boden came out on top with a scoreline of Boden 5-10 The Downs 0-1.
Boden were in the final after some superb results in the group stages. Lucan had beaten Foxrock Cabinteely in their group qualifier so Boden were facing Lucan in the final.
The first half was a close contested game, however the Boden girls were always ahead and showed some great skill and team play passing the ball among players which resulted in great scores. In the second half the Boden girls played their hearts out as they were determined to win this final. They hand passed the ball with great skill from the defenders to the midfielders and the forwards finished with the well earned goals and points.
When the final whistle blew the result reflected a great tournament for all the girls.

Final score Boden 3-9  Lucan 2-3.

The Boden player of the tournament went to Erica Tobin, the vice captain who had an outstanding tournament at centre back.
