Under 14 B 4-6 St. Oliver Plunketts B 0-4

The final score in this game doesn’t tell the full story of what was a much closer game, up until the last 10 minutes. Played on Cherryfield on Sunday afternoon, this was, at last, the opening league match for a team that has been training twice a week since early January. A point with the first attack promised much, but despite some great work up front and creating several chances, Boden only added a further 1-3 for the rest of the half. The results from the performance of the full back line and half back line, playing in front of a flawless goalkeeping display was better with Plunketts kept to three points. The second half was full of running but more defensive heroics and disciplined tackling kept the opposition to only one further point. At the other end meanwhile, some great work just couldn’t do any more than match the opposition’s one point. And then the finale: A closing 3-1 in the last ten minutes gave the team a very well-deserved two league points
