Well done to our 4 Ballyboden girls Ellen Sweeney, Amy Brennan, Ruby Hynes & Jenny Maguire who represented Dublin in The LGFA National U17 PDP Festival of Football Day on Tuesday. The festival took place in the National GAA Games Development Centre in Abbottstown on Tuesday. The games commenced at 11am and continued throughout the day. Dublin entered three teams into the national event.
Our Boden ladies represented the Dublin Fingal team. Dublin Fingal and Dublin South both exited the competition at the quarter final stage following an unbeaten run in the group stages. Dublin Fingal were beaten by the minimum by Tipperary with a FT score of Dublin 1-05 (8) Tipperary 2-03 (9).
None of the players representing Dublin had competed previously at U16 or minor level for the county. In total, 55 players from 31 clubs togged out for Dublin with a very high standard of football on display throughout the tournament. The Dubs competed against teams from Kerry, Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Galway, Kildare and Meath.
Well done to Dublin North on winning the competition outright after a good win in the final over Waterford. The future certainly is bright for club and county!
