U21D Championship semi-final

BBSe 1-09

Whitehall 3-05

The Rubber Bandit reports

The old adage that goals win games came back to haunt our U21 B’s on Saturday last when Whitehall Colmcille’s visited Sancta Maria for the U21 D Football semi final. Ballyboden were slow to settle into this game and the visitors had 1-2 scored before Ollie Brophy opened Boden’s account with a long range effort. Boden closed the gap to the minimum when Oisin King finished to the net. King scored the leveller soon after and the teams were level at the break 1-2 apiece.

The second half started in identical fashion to the first with the visitors hitting Boden for 1-2 in the first 10 minutes and it was an uphill struggle for Boden but these lads are made of sterner stuff and with a few substitutes and a few positional changes Boden came roaring back into the game. Points from Richie O’Halloran and Conor Barnes had the gap down to 3 points before Whitehall struck for another goal to extend the lead back to six. Again Boden kept on attacking with points from Alex Young and Lee Mc Connell cut the visitors to 4 points. Whitehall kicked their last score before Ciarán Kiely kicked 3 points to narrow the gap to 2 points. With time running out Boden launched attack after attack ably led by Fionn Keating Mc Dermott, David Monahan and Jack Hutchinson but try as they might they eventually ran out of time and when the ref blew for full time the score stood at 3-5 to 1-9.
