Sunday saw the first return to action for our U9 Camogie players, and while BBSE ‘Red’ teams played at home in Sancta Maria against Round Towers Clondalkin and CBC, their colleagues on the 3 ‘Blue’ teams made the trip up the M1 to Rush, to face host club St Maurs and Parnells in a 3 club cluster blitz.

Our 3 teams arrived in good time and so were well ready for the fray when the 10 o’clock throw in arrived. All that is, except for Louise, who was in Crumlin hospital having her appendix out – get well soon to Louise from all her team mates!

There was no sign of summer cobwebs as the girls took to the field, giving a great account of themselves in all 9 games played. Especially noteworthy was our girls’ willingness to rise the ball, and some very good blocking and striking, and with great puck outs turning every opposition wide into an immediate Ballyboden attack. Most of all though, it was the girls’ competitive spirit all over the field that caught the eye, with everyone working as hard as they could, marking their players and supporting their team mates.

This was a very encouraging first game back after the summer, and the coaches can look forward to the rest of the season with optimism. Well done girls!
